Arlene Daniel

Arlene Daniel was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  Daniel’s family relocated to southwestern Virginia in 1969.  She raised her family in Claudville, Virginia.  Arlene and her husband, Russell, now reside in Winston-Salem North Carolina.

I always loved to draw as a child.  It wasn’t until after I had my two children that I began to get interested in art and started to paint.  After taking a few classes locally I acquired a lifelong love for art.

In my work I try to capture certain feelings thru the use of light, color and natural surroundings.  These conditions sometimes can take something that is ordinary and make it extraordinary.

I love painting in plein air.  Being on location with the sites, smells and sounds of nature is wonderful.  Nature is the best teacher; no camera can capture all the subtle colors and color harmonies that our eyes can see. After painting in plein air you can bring that color sense into your studio work.

I am always trying to challenge myself and work diligently in order to become a more masterful painter.  As our skills grow our standards of excellence grows with them, so our lifetime quest for excellence continues.

Her work has been included in the International Artist Magazine and in several national shows including Oil Painters of America, Annapolis MD, Southeastern Pastel Society, GA., Women Painters of the Southeast, Fla., American Women Artist online show, The American Landscape in Winston Salem NC, The Hilton Head Art League National Show in Hilton Head, SC., The Boardwalk Art Show, Virginia Beach, VA., and Painting North Carolina, Germanton, NC.

She is a Signature Member of the Women Painters of the Southeast, associate member of Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, American Women Artists, North Carolina Pastel Society, Southeastern Pastel Society, Piedmont Outdoor Painter’s Society, NC Plein Air painters and many other regional art organizations.

Her work has been featured in Outdoor Plein Air Painter Magazine and Judson plein air publications.
