Raised in the Chadds Ford, Pa and the Greenville, DE areas, I was surrounded by nature and the Wyeth family of artists, who inspire me to this day. I spent my childhood summers on an island off Mount Desert Island, Maine and lived for several years on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, MA. My love for the coast and sea came from those periods in my life.
I participated in an art majors’ program at my high school for two years to prepare for college. I took classes in Fine Art & Art History at the college level but am primarily self-taught. I worked as an artists’ assistant for a year and a half, that provided me with much education, from stretching my own canvas to mixing my own paint with pigment, which I continue to do to this day. I am constantly drawn to the sea, salt marshes and coastal lands that surround me. Now living full time in the Eastern Shore of Virginia, I am constantly inspired by what I see out my door. It’s a never-ending body of work.
