Clay McGlamory is an artist working in glass, neon, printmaking, mixed media and public art. He has taught printmaking and public art for over 30 years at the Governor’s School for the Arts and as an Adjunct Professor at Old Dominion University from 1999-2017. He holds a BFA(1993) with an emphasis in printmaking and photography, and a MFA (1999) in printmaking and mixed media from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia.
Clay served as President of the Virginia Glass Guild from 2017-2021, and is a member of The National Capital Art Glass Guild. He founded Half Ass Press in 2008, currently based in Portsmouth, Virginia where he is the director and master printer, specializing in warm glass and screenprinting on alternative substrates. He has had over 25 solo and two-three person exhibitions including FORMS-New works by Clay McGlamory and Cate Currier, TCC Visual Arts Center Gallery (2019); PRIZMS, OK Spark Gallery (2015) Fluid Variations: Recent Works in Glass by Clay McGlamory, Charles H. Taylor Arts Center (2014); A Few of My Favorite Colors, The Red Door Gallery (2008), and Eye Candy, The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia and The White Canvas Gallery (2005-2006).
Clay has been included in over 300 national and international juried and invitational exhibitions and portfolios where he has won awards for his work. Clay has works in numerous public and private collections in the USA, Belgium, Japan and the UK.
